Wow!!!

Boutique illustration/design/photography studio Vault49 have just released their latest self-promotional effort and I must say it looks amazing!

I would love to get my hands on one these very limited edition packs - just 49 have been made - unfortunately I am 100% certain that will never happen; so for now I will just have to be content with ogling these pictures of it.

Here's what Vault49 had to say about their efforts:

In addition to our new foil-stamped portfolio box we’ve created a limited edition series of 49 (of course) limited edition screen print packages containing a variety of original Vault prints, all combined in an ingeniously folded hand screen printed package.

Ireland As Seen From Wales

Following on from my last post about illustration. This one, which is from Alan Fletchers' monumental book The Art of Looking Sideways, is another favourite and made me chuckle straight away.

Being Welsh and experiencing first hand how much it rains here in Wales, I can say that this is a very accurate illustration. The images' beauty is in its simplicity, it gets the message across perfectly with minimum information.

Airside - Tipping Point Illustration

I'm a massive fan of the work of design studio Airside. As well as having a site full of amazing work they have a great blog, often featuring case studies of projects, which are a great insight into the way they work.

One of the highlights of their work, for me, is this illustration for EcoLabs Climate Roadshow (a travelling exhibition investigating and offering solutions to our planet’s many ecological issues).

Addressing climate change and the effects of the sea rising by just one degree on an island called Tavalu (explained in more detail in the blog post); this image compliments the point being raised perfectly. At first glance it seems like a couple are just enjoying themselves at a tropical lagoon, closer inspection reveals a different story. Any illustration that makes you look deeper and come back for more is a winner for me.

Amazing Music Video

Spotted via wyldstallyons twitter feed, I had to post this video on my blog. It is a music video for a Japanese band called Sour. Shot entirely on webcams, it is such a well executed idea and a refreshingly different approach to the typical music video format.

Logo Design Love

Just a quick post to share a link to a site I came across recently. Logo Design Love, as the name suggests, is a site dedicated solely to the world of logo design. Updated a couple of times a week with a variety of tips, tutorials and inspiration it makes for a great read. Another plus point for the site is it's healthy readership, so the comments section is always a good follow up read to the main features.
